Artrageous
2002
Thoroughbred
Stallion
Artrageous is by the Eclipse award champion (1999) and track record setting sprinter Artax out of the accomplished Alysheba mare Treize. Trieze is the dam of Brancusi, who was 2nd in the Bluegrass Stakes (G1) before running in the Kentucky Derby in 2003. His granddam, Treizieme, was an outstanding turf mare winning G1 turf races in France and produced stakes winning foals herself.
Believe it or not, "Arty" was in danger of going to an auction with the possibility of being sold to slaughter after being improperly cared for at the track. We'd like to thank Elizabeth Wood of Bits & Bytes Farm for putting the word out on this boy and helping us bring him home.
Artrageous began eventing as a 5 year old and went to his first event three months after he took his first jump - finishing clear on cross country.
Arty has schooled up to the Prelim level of eventing, but a rider injury and finances cut his competitive career short. He is a fabulous jumper with a ton of scope and has an excellent free shoulder. He has also been foxhunting and is an excellent hunt horse. A true Amateur's dream, he is very easy to ride and train and has an excellent work ethic. He has an excellent disposition and is pastured with his "harem" of mares. As he is basically "bombproof" we use him to pony youngsters and he is a quiet leader for them. He loves ALL his jobs!
Arty has consistently stamped his foals with his gorgeous head and great disposition. All of them have been easy to start under saddle and are extremely amateur friendly.

Sadly we announce that Artrageous has passed. We do not have any semen available.
